The Social Action Commission will host a book discussion with Arthur Browne, author of One Righteous Man: Samuel Battle and the Shattering of the Color Line. Samuel J. Battle was the first African American NYPD officer joining the police department in 1911. Browne will discuss Battle's courageous journey to integrate the NYPD and the role of his faith. There will be a brief Q & A, andbook signing following the program. All are welcome to attend.
