COMMUNITY SERVICES

These are exciting times for historic Harlem as myriads of initiatives are taking place impacting the economic vitality of this great neighborhood, and most importantly our residents.

Canaan is committed to being a good community neighbor, promoting community advocacy and empowerment, with a mission to create a viable and dynamic community in Central Harlem. For many years Canaan has sponsored affordable housing for Harlem residents and services for seniors.

Today, Canaan continues to create partnerships and services to improve the quality of life of Harlem residents, and provide education programs to promote a healthy lifestyle.

	Canaan Housing Historically the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ has served as the community sponsor for various housing programs. Included under the outreach program of the church, are the housing programs for the elderly, low income and homeless families. read more >>
	Center for Community Enrichment Canaan’s Center for Community Enrichment is located next door to the church building at 125 West 115th Street. Completed in 1998, at a cost of $3.2 million, it contains 25,000 square feet of space and is connected directly to the Church by a corridor on the first floor. There is elevator access to its four floors. read more >>
	Senior Services Currently, Canaan Baptist Church of Christ is the sponsor/contractor for the Canaan Senior Service Center, which provides services and nutritional aid for the senior residents of the surrounding community. read more >>
